Day 1: LA PAZ - SORATA Departure from the hotel at 09:00 in private transportation to the village of Sorata (3h30), at the foothills of Illampu (6430 m.a.s.l.).If the day is clear, we will be able to see the snowy peaks thought the palms that occupy the main square of this beautiful village located at 2700 m.a.s.l.Lunch and dinner free.
SORATA - LACATIYA Difficulty: altitude trek that includes the crossing of several mountain passes at 5000 meters or more (at least one pass per day). About 5 to 7 hours walking per day. Good physical condition is required. In the morning, meeting with our team of porters. The trek begins with a long ascent that concludes in the village of Lacatiya (4100 m.a.s.l.). There, we will set up our first camp. During the day, Illampu dominates the landscape with its 6430 meters. Cold lunch. All included. Camping.
LACATIYA - LAGUNA CHILATA (4200 m.a.s.l.) From Lacatiya, we begin ascending the hillsides of Illampu during 4 hours until arriving at Laguna Chilata.Cold lunch. All included. Camping.
LAGUNA CHILATA - LAGUNA GLACIAR (5038 m.a.s.l.) - LAGUNA CHILATA We begin early in order to attempt the ascent to Laguna Glaciar (its name is taken from the glacier that literally falls on its border - 4/5h). Magnificent view of Lake Titicaca, the valley of Sorata and the Andes... The effort is worthwhile. In the afternoon, descent to our base camp next to laguna Chilata. Cold lunch. All included. Camping.
LAGUNA CHILATA - SORATA - LA PAZ Descent to Sorata in the morning. Return to La Paz by local bus in the afternoon (3/4 hours).
