A jeep expedition to the great desert of salt. Designed for lovers of open spaces and the Andean heights. The circuit includes a day dedicated to a breathtaking walk in the foothills of the volcano Tunupa, on the border of the Uyuni Salt Flat.
UYUNI - SALT FLATS - JIRIRA . In the morning, departure to the Uyuni Salt Flats; the biggest in the world. Along the road, visit to the salt mines of Colchani and the salt hotels. We make a stop in the heart of the Salt Flats, the Incahuasi Island. This place, covered by estromalitos of volcanic origin, is also known as the Isla del Pescado (Fish Island) In the afternoon, we cross the Salt Flats to its northernmost edge at the foot of the Tunupa volcano.
Cold lunch. Night in the house of Lupe and Carlos in the village of Jirira (limited comfort) All included.
JIRIRA - TUNUPA - UYUNI We will arrive to the village of Coquesa. Along the way we will see the Aymara tombs (chullpas). Later on, we will begin our ascent by the foothills of the Tunupa volcano and we will arrive to the Mirador (4700 m.a.s.l.). From this place, we can dominate all the Salt Flats and we will be able to have an exceptional view (we will need between 7 to 8 hours for the round-trip.) Return to Uyuni by the end of the afternoon.
