SAJAMA NATIONAL PARK

Located in the southwestern department of Oruro in Sajama Province. It borders the province of La Paz, north, and the Lauca National Park in Chile in the west. The average annual temperature is 10 ° C., the minimum in winter can reach the - 30 ° C and maximum day-to-22 ° C. The climate is cold all year and summer rains. The area is important reservoir of genetic resources related mainly to the breeding and selection of the alpaca.

Population
The population of the area belongs to the Aymara culture and is one of the best places have retained their traditional social organization, customs and mythical-religious beliefs, etc. It is estimated more than 300 families in the catchment area and close to 100 families within the proposed area. Almost the entire population is dedicated to livestock particularly camels and alpacas yarn fabrics.

Archaeology
