The Nevado Illampu, also known as Nevado de Sorata, because of its proximity to this town, is a mountain of the Andes, which together with the Ancohuma form a single massif. Located to the west of Bolivia, in the Larecaja Province of the department of La Paz, it has an area of ??about 200 km ², which is an important volume in the Andean Bolivian mountain range.

Its first ascent was the 7 of May of 1928 by the Germans Hans Pfann, Alfred Horescowsky, Hugo Hortnagel and the Austrian Erwin Hein, although there were many who before tried to tame its summits.
