The pre-Inca trail called the Yungas Cruz joins the temperate highlands and valleys of southern La Paz with the sub-tropical Yungas region, and ends in the town of Chulumani.

This trek allows one to fully understand the Illimani region.

Day 1

LA PAZ – KHALA CIUDAD

We leave La Paz at 07:30 am by road, passing through the region of the Animas Valley, to reach Chuñawi, where the landscape and natural erosion create spectacular rock formations. From there we continue on towards the north-eastern flank of Illimani, where we start the 5 hour trek to reach our first campsite at Khala Ciudad.
Day 2

KHALA CIUDAD – PUNTA SOLAKA

After passing over the Yungas Cruz Hill, altitude 3,921 m, from where we have spectacular views of Illimani, we descend into the high valleys of the Yungas, and after around 6 hours we reach the Punta Solaka Campground.
Day 3

PUNTA SOLAKA – SIKILINI

We continue descending through lush vegetation and trees, to the last camping camp at Sikilini Ranch, which reach in around 5 hours.
Day 4

SIKILINI – CHULUMANI

After about four hours of trekking we reach Chulumani, a very quiet and charming village of the Bolivian Yungas, steeped in the mysteries and stories of the Aymara culture. From there we return by aod to the city of La Paz, arrivin.
